70 years of U.S. aid

|

U.S. government assistance to Cuba goes back decades. Records show that military and economic aid totals at least $244,267,805 from 1946 to 2016. See graphic.
This includes U.S. military aid that the Batista regime welcomed before the 1959 Cuban revolution.
Since then, the Cuban government has rejected U.S. assistance, calling it illegal interference in the country’s affairs.
Many Cuban dissidents say it’s impossible for them to organize and discuss their alternative vision for Cuba without outside help.
